When I Sit In Darkness

Therefore, I will look unto the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
My God will hear me.
Rejoice not against me,
Oh mine enemy;
When I fall, I shall arise;
When I sit in darkness,
The Lord shall be a light unto me.
He will bring me forth to the light;
And I shall behold His righteousness.
Micah 7:7-9
There are days God seems so far and away.
My life up close appears void and gray.
Near-sighted vision is bleak and narrow.
Guilt, pain and loneliness bow my head low.
I crawl in a tunnel of self-pity and doubt.
I cower in fear, thinking there's no way out.
As I sit in the darkness, a soft breeze blows by.
I lift my head and and I look up high.
I stand, step back and peer at the light.
My eyes want to close and keep it from sight.
Gentle words whisper and bid me to see.
"My child, I'm here with you, won't you look upon Me?"
"I'm there in the distance, shining with might,
And I'm here in the darkness holding you tight!"
